Step forward to the next level

So, you’ve finished a level 1 course and think you’re ready to progress to the next level? Great!

For those of you who are unsure about whether you’re ready to progress to the next level, here are a few tips to help you decide:

  • Check in with yourself – in every level we provide our members with a checklist of what they learn in that level. A good indicator of whether you are ready to progress to the next level is whether you are able to recognise and perform these steps from memory, or whether you need some prompting to remember what they are. Reflect on this during your personal practice time.
  • Leave your heart on the dance floor – another good check is to see how readily you are able to recall and carry out the level checklist of moves during the in-class practice times when you get to practice social dancing without any cues from your teachers.
  • Ask one of us – feel free to ask one of your teachers during the in-class practice time, at the end of class, or via phone or mail for some feedback on your progress.

Remember, each new level builds on the previous one, so it’s important that you are familiar and feel comfortable with the concepts from one level before you move to the next level. If you think you’re ready to move to the next level, make sure to find out when the next course level starts, and book online to reserve your spot.

Everyone has a process. Know your process, respond to it and remember – this is not a competition. It’s about your personal practice and journey. No one else is better than anyone else. Everyone is just doing their best on any given day.
